Sad occurrence tonightbwith one of our other eggs. It was developing nicely and had a great air sac expected to hatch on the 22nd. Tonight I candles the remaining eggs and the egg sac was no longer present and the entire inside of the egg is cloudy. I've had plenty of early deaths but this one sucks cause the chick is still moving in the egg. I know it won't make it without the sac but I can't bring myself to get rid of the egg yet. Happier news, the egg we are waiting to hatch is still working on zipping its shell.

Not yet! Starting to finally zip though it looks like. And it's chirping a lot so it's soon.

And this is the other egg that had the air sac and then something happened. I'm not sure exactly what happened but I did notice this dark spot on the egg when I removed it today.

They sure like to take their time. As long as it's peeping alot it's probably fine but if it begins to sound weak you might want to chip away some of the shell just enough to get some really good air to it. Sure hope it gets out of there soon. .

As for the egg no telling what happened to the lil one but I always try and think if something happens at this stage then maybe it is for the best. Could be hatched with all kinds of problems, Know what I mean.

Yeah the little guy is chirpping and getting good air, he cracked the shell and membrane pretty good last night. And yes I am glad something happened now versus the duckling being hatched with all sorts of problems. Just wish it would have been an early death instead of the baby still alive and growing and me knowing there wouldn't be any air for it.
