Hey all! I just got my first 3 eggs from my Cayuga! I know it's her because I felt the pelvic bones of the others, and she's the eldest. But I have read cayuga eggs should be black. Could she be a mix or just not purebred or something?
First pic is of them all cleaned up
2nd pic is right after collecting

It definitely varies from bird to bird.

Way way way back when I had cayugas I had one that laid black. As the season progressed they got a little lighter each week ending up light grey in the late fall.

My understanding is it is not all that common to get black layers anymore.
