Cayuga Eggs

My duck looks like a Cayuga duck but she lays white eggs. Is it possible that she is a White East Indie duck? they look the same but lay different eggs. I'm not to sure but want some help i will post some pictures in a few. I also need help sexing them we definitely have a Duck laying we think its the black because the white is always mating her, like I said I will post photos in a moment.

from what ive read is the first eggs of the season are black then lighten up back to white untill the next year

Did you get her as an adult already laying

No, we got her young she laid her first egg about 2 months ago and she is laying almost everyday.

She could be a mix. Even mixed cayugas will look like cayugas, because the dominant extended black gene. I'm not sure how egg color genetics work, but I believe I've seen others with mixes that layed light gray and white eggs.

Agreed with @Cayuga momma. Can we see the pretty little eggs picture? And the duck if you don’t mind. Cayuga duck eggs start out black in spring, grayish in summer, light gray in the fall and white in the winter. For you, if it’s cold or snowing there your ducks body might think it’s still winter and still lay white eggs. It should go black in under 1-4 months, maybe. I’m looking forward to getting my first Cayuga egg from my 6 week old duck.

My first cayuga egg was black. Then the next 20 or so were meduim gray. Now they are all light gray.
She has only been laying for 2 and half months.

If you could get a video, I can help you sex them. Going off of pictures for cayugas isn’t a reliable way and I could tell you wrong.

I bought a Black east indie from a local breeder and their eggs start black then the rest are green. Cayugas can lay all white eggs. It really just depends. I also have cayuga mixes and they lay the black/grey eggs. So I’d say it’s either another duck laying the eggs or you have a white egg laying variety.
