Cayuga x Welsh Harlequin hatched!

We incubated our "backyard" eggs our ducks dropped around the yard held them for 10+ days and put them in incubator to our surprise the hatched. Cayuga hen x Welsh Harlequin drake. The ducklings came out solid black, black beak with big cream patch on chest.

Awh, congratulations! We must have similar taste! I keep Welsh Harlequin ducks & have for years, but recently adopted Cayugas. I'm on day 25 with 16 Welshies & 4 Cayugas in incubator. Mine aren't mixed (yet) I'd love to know how yours are doing & see pix.

I swear this mix is a super duck. They are huge right out of the egg. off heat by 1 week, very tame like the WH, strong and independent like cayuga... i may have created the perfect duck..lol

I was super anxious about the thought of mine mixing, even separating breeds to collect eggs. Now you have my wheels turning. I, too, would love to see pictures! Thanks for your reply!

Oh my goodness! You can't wipe this smile away! What a gorgeous baby! Yeah, you definitely have me rethinking this whole thing. And I totally get what you mean by the friendliness of the Welshie & the independance of the Cayuga. My heart can't take it! ❤

They are a dusty black with yellow chests that fade to grey bellies.
