Cb radios and talking skip

I like experimentation also but I like it backed up by calculations. I'd hate to spend a week building an antenna on a hunch only to find out it won't resonate and I have no idea if it needs "more or less".

I didn't know all the rules for the key off thing. Looks like if it's not a 1/4 or 1/2 wave vertical mounted on the car it's not allowed.

This is the "down time" for 10 and 11 meter. I've been goofing around on 40 and 20 meters for the last few months.

What CB's do you guys have. I've been thinking about getting one for my truck. I don't think there's much activity here in San Deigo so I don't want to drop a load of money on it since 5 watts is 5 watts.

seismic wonder, I understand fully. Thats where the MFJ 259-B comes in handy.

I heard 20 meters has been good lately. A buddy of mine has been working alot of Italy.

I'm waiting patiently for cycle 24 to open up. we had some pretty good conditions for 2 days last week, from Chicago down to Fl.

WELL;),, with a quality tune and alignment, the Uniden Grant, Cobra 148 and Galaxy 959 are Great talkers all with SSB. Am only would be Uniden 68/78 <(under a $100) or cobra 29.
I'll be honest, there's more and More people running exports and old school 2950's due to the fact they have more bells and whistles.

Now days there's just so many to choose from.

Check out my son's website. You can listen to ham radio through your computer. better to not be on dial-up, but you can still hear, and you can ask to tune the radio etc. If you have a ham radio, you can add yours to the list for people to listen to!! Some of the radios on his website are in the UK, and a few in different states in the US. Check it out!!

I've lived on 19 for many years, when I was in a truck and now that I'm in a little truck! Had a great time talking and got some decent range, but not a lot of traffic out today for some reason.

Thats a Good thing.
You don't want a bunch of Idiots on the roads when traveling.

11 meters was wide open for a few hours last night. I didn't check 10 meter's, I have the capability to listen, just don't go there.
