Cedar chips?

Oh dear…
We had it dumped right in my pathway to the chicken coop. Expecting to use it there…🙈🙈

If we can’t use it in the garden, and we can’t use it in the run… what is it for?

I wouldn't hesitate to use it in the garden, especially after letting it age and dry out. And it will likely be okay to use in the chicken run after letting it dry for a year or two.

My 2 cents? It should be absolutely fine. Cedar shavings are dangerous when the animals are locked up in a coop or cage with the shavings and breathing that in and laying on it. If it's outdoors and the chickens decide to dig around in it, no harm. I wouldn't close them up with it but I also wouldn't worry if they got into the pile while free ranging.

It's great for flower beds and a good pest repellent. In veggies garden I'm not sure you would probably want to research that. But it's excellent for mulching and smells nice. As @StinkyAcres said after a couple years of ageing and drying you could probably put in the the run. The smell I'd assume would be pretty much gone by then.
My grandmother always used cedar mulch for her flowers beds. She said it kept the moles away. I don't know how true that is I just remember her saying that.

I was thinking of only putting it in the RUN as mud control.

I could even do a layer of something else on top of it. (Grass clippings, pine shavings, leaves)

If I leave it alone for now, (in the pile outside) and see how they’re reacting to it in like a week or so, (before I lay it down) mby that can help make my decision.

They free range most of the day, and I would never even think of putting it in their coop.
(they have pine shavings, and/or straw in the nest boxes.)

The chips are huge, coarse, and not compact.
And I don’t see any dust really.

I already have a garden bed of sand for dust bathing, so that would give a relief spot if necessary
