Please be careful using this supplier. I pre paid ffor 4 maran pullet breeds, 4 of each breed, along with 6 of their special blue super layers. Also requested for and paid for a cockerel chick for each of the maran breeds I paid for. Not only did I not receive the breeds that I paid for, I received 5 buff orpingtpms amd on 2 of the 5 super blue layers. When the box of chicks were received at the post office, I had the box opened by a mail clerk.. I obtained written verification from the post office that 4 of the chicks had died during transit. When I called to report this to the hatchery, they would not give me credit for the 4 dead chicks. Later on as the chicks got older and feathered out, I called again to explain that I did not order orphingtons. The owner explained that they would only give me credit for 3.25 the price of one super blue layer. I spent close to 350.00 and they would only credit me 3.50. They said that I had to take pictures of each bird after they were six months old. In my opinioin, they knowingly sent me cheaper breeds of chickens. They are not an honest company and you DO NOT get what you pay for.

I am curious where you live? Other people here have also less than positive results from this so called hatchery. I ask where you live only to try to decipher how long those chicks were in shipping. Just the same, they should have given you either a credit or replacement for the chicks you lost in shipping.

This order with Cedar Creek Hatchery has been nothing short of a nightmare. The chicks were only in the mail one day, however, I could tell that one of the dead chicks hadn't even had a chance to dry off and get strong enough to ship. It was still wet with egg matter when I received the box in the mail. I called Cedar Creek three times before finally getting a person on the phone. That is when I was told they would not give credits for any of the chicks, even though I could clearly discribe each chick. Then after they feathered out, I called again and was told I would have to wait until they were 6 months old, take pictures and send the pictures in and they might give me credits ($3.50) for the wrong birds even though I had paid anywhere from $9.00 to 12.00 for marans. I live in Northern California. The weather was agreeable to ship the chicks and were received in less than 24 hours. I guess this hatchery has a large enough client account that they do not have to worry about small orders. I had ordered 28 chicks and after the company received my money orders, I got kicked to the curb.:(

Please take the time to report your problems with the Better Business Bureau. You just go to their website and do it. Cedar Creek already has a file. If you do a search through this forum, you can read of my issues with Cedar Creek. You very well may get a refund if you work through the BBB. I did not get a refund, but I didn't request one either. May sound silly, but I filed through BBB not to try and get a refund, but to aid others in the future with Cedar Creek. Therefore when I filed my complaint I didn't even ask for a refund. Unlike you they only ripped me off for $30, and dealing with them any longer was not worth $30 to me. Good Luck.

Thank you for your information and interest in my issue with this company. I generally buy from my local feed store, however, I had it in my plans to raise the pretty marans and was so excited when I found the Cedar Creek site. It is a shame that companies such as this put a dark side to mail order. I have already processed the excess young rooster (9 of them)and sold the buff orphington young rooster to my neighbor. will report my issues to the site you mentioned. Again, thank you for you help. Janet

I would also like to add that the quality of the birds I got are in question. The barred rocks barring is not nearly as attractive as are the pictures on their website of their birds. That was one of the biggest reasons I wanted to purchase theirs. Also more than half my birds are roosters. I should have known better, because I did realize feather sexing is not an accurate form of sexing chickens, so that is my fault, but I would like to let others know how the experience worked out.
