DelcoChix, looking at he first picture of your rooster, he looks like the coloring my (supposed French Wheaton) Marans from Cedar Creek is starting to show, rust head, dark body with lighter tipped wings. My avatar pic is it at 4 weeks, does it look familiar? My sister came over yesterday and told me it's definitely a rooster, it's always been the biggest, most aggressive chick in the bunch so I guess I shouldn't be surprised seeing where it came from.
We called it the mini bald eagle because for a couple weeks that's what it looked like! Looks like I have at least two roosters out of the bunch, my sister also agreed with Strawberryfields about the Sussex. Now what to do with them?

Hi Bird Nerd,
Did you mean the pic at the top of the black and white guy? I was assuming he was some form of Bluebell as he has no feathering on his legs and doesn't have the comb/wattle growth like the Marans I've had before, or now. The one who looks almost white is one I could imagine being a Wheaten Marans as he does have the reddish tinge on his neck that's appeared with the last couple of weeks. At first I thought he was Blue Copper because he did have some faint splash markings, then the reddish hue began to appear.

That's why I'm sooo confused! Could be persuaded either way, and normally I'm fairly decent in figuring out who is who. I'm afraid I couldn't tell you what they looked like when they were younger, I have lots of pics but no way to keep track of 21 at a time--very mind boggling! They just wouldn't cooperate and keep still long enough for me to sort through them much.

And I love the avatar pic! He does look like an eagle--and I did have a chick that looked like that...just can't remember what he/she grew up to be

Also Bird Nerd....
"DelcoChix does have pretty roosters! If mine turn out that pretty I won't want to part with them!"

I'm sure yours won't be anywhere near as pretty...as mine are, why don't you take a short trip into Buckeye Country and pick yourself up a couple, or maybe 8 cute cockerals?

Hahaha Delco Chix, I'll save my gas and just stick to looking at pictures of your pretty birds! The picture I was referring too was the second one in your post. The handsome rooster with the feathered feet. Those feet look just like my supposed French Wheaton Marans, but the coloring on mine and yours don't seem to match that breed! Who knows what they will be, when mine show they are 100% rooster I am going to contact Cedar Creek to see what they will do for me. I'll keep you updated.

Yes, please let us know. If you contact them I will also contact them! I have a little longer wait yet, but that is OK :) Thanks!

Good luck contacting them, I can't wait to hear how you make out. I tried for weeks to contact them before my chicks even came, couldn't get through. Left them my work hours, asked them not to call during those hours 8-4. Yet they called several times whilst I was at work. Even asked them to call me any time on the weekend. Only way I finally got a response was filing a complaint through both Paypal and Better Business Bureau, then I got a call back from them after that within 15 minutes. I got total denial "it was all my fault". My last conversation ended with him hanging up on me after 20 minutes of hearing how it was my fault these chicks died, and that I was dishonest cause I didn't have my son open the box in front of the Postman, and that basically he didn't believe they died. I'm a patient man, but he pushed the limit, I gave him an earfull and he hung up on me. I guess dishonest people have a hard time believing that honest people exist.

The last three photos of my boys are all Marans, and really nice looking...what is puzzling me is I was getting a mix of both Blue Copper and Wheaten but I can only figure out one BLue Copper for sure, the obvious one that is...wait for it.....blue....yep, blue, with a copper head and neck. The other two...I'm still on the fence, thinking BC but not sure....and I've never seen such a variety of birds that are the same breed. Oh well...eye candy for now!
And I WILL be contacting them just asking for information..
I also have found a little info. on the Bluebells and it looks like they are a sex-linked breed...if so then I wonder how I paid extra for "feather-sexed" pullets and ended up with four cockerals out of five pullets ordered...

Please, please, please let us know what they say!!! This is becoming very, very interesting!!!
