I built my small 3ft/4ft copp out of ceder. And I just read that ceder can make chickens sick, is this true? I use pine shavings as the inside bedding.
Any thoughts on this would be great. Thanks

Cedar shavings and cedar lumber are two different things. Unless it reeks like a cedar closet in there when you stick your head in, I wouldn't worry at all.

Have fun,

Pat

Thanks a lot for your advice.

I had just put all this hard work into this new coop and then came across the info about cedar. I am so glad I don't have to start over.

my coop is made of cedar as well... I cut it all out ofmy own woods, and now it is planked with cedar as well (but not in this pic)

I think as long as there is plenty of ventilation, cedar is fine. I actually use cedar shavings on occasion in my henhouse. The key is plenty of ventilation.
