I have 5 chicks that range from 2-5 weeks old . They are currently in a brooder inside my home but I would love to put the brooder outside on my large covered back porch. I would cover the top with hardware cloth to make sure no stray cats get them since we live in a residential area. I have a ceiling fan on my back porch that could be used to keep them cool during the hot temps since we live in TX but will it be safe for the chicks? I don't know if the draft will hurt them. I could also place a solid cover on 1/2 of the top so the chicks could decide if they want the breeze or not. Would that be okay?

As long as the temp is high enough, the breeze won't hurt them. Just make sure they are safe- that no animals can get to them.
