How about...by any chance are they laying any eggs I could hatch. Then DH could hand raise them from babies, lol....He is so getting into chickens (another convert)

My DH is getting into the chickens too...too bad he always likes the ROOS. I have 2 young cockerels I'm not allowed to get rid of and he won't let me get rid of my extra Silkie roo either...silly boys!

Yeah, same here, we are overrun with testosterone around here between the roos and the dogs and the children. DD, myself and 1 service dog are out numbered.

DH loves the roos,"they are so colorful" well yeah, but we only need so many. I told him find a chicken breed he likes, he did, golden phoenix, likes the name and colors, guy thing.

Well normally I dont have a problem w/that but I dont pen up my pheonix. I dont even have a cage empty for them to be put in to gather eggs. That is why I am selling them as adults I dont have space for them right now--that is also why they are runnin the yard!LOL All my pheonix got let out in the yard to fend for them selves w/my Key Wests because I had all my pens full of the more delicate chickens or I should say smaller chickens I think the smaller ones are hardier than the bigger guys!

Come to think of it. I even have Sultans running the yard because I ran out of room!lol I have to do some MAJOR cut downs shortly so I can get ready for season the way its going come season everybody that dont have a pen will be living in my house!

I have some that are easy to catch because they follow you around when you have food. But what you do is hatch what you want on those & then just resale them. No big deal they sell pretty good when you try. I have to find pens for my Onagadori & Birchen Pheonix for the season & I just dont have an empty cage.

Matter of a fact I did one better I picked up some of my yard eggs-- I just hatched out a silkie/Golden Pheonix cross--Blue skin/toes & feathers galore & its the color of a pheonix! That will be an interesting one!

I have to make chicken diapers for DD white ee i got from the last swap. It either follows her into the house and around athe house or she goes out nd brings it in.
