CENTRAL FLORIDA SWAP MEET - JAN. 17th

ok Now I am curious what does a Silkie/EE cross look like and what size do they grow to, and egg size do they lay? Silkies are adorable and I have seen some beautiful EE so what attributes get imparted to the offspring, pics please

Oh and are quail something else I need?

Ferngully, you would not be sorry if you got a couple quail. The Coturnix are like little chickens in friendliness. If kept inside, they lay year round. I use a cigar box for a nesting box for mine. They love to get in there. I love my quail. They are really tasty too.

Sweetshoplady: How much would you be asking for the bator? I may be very interested.

General: So should I just post what kind of chickens I am looking for, to see if anyone has some extras of those they would be willing to part with from their flock?

I don't have anything to swap yet. We are just getting started.

Will let you know in a bit what goodies I will bring.

edited to add goodies for cook out.

That's a good idea. Looks like there's a really good turnout, so chances are somebody will have the breeds you're hoping for. And will know to bring them.

Ferngully, I pmed you the price and a link about the bator.

Bloomnbeauty, that pair sounds really tempting. Please let me know the price. I'll see if I can get you a pic of this turkey lady. She is really friendly. (they all are) I'm not really sure about sex. I could just bring her and you could meet her.

Who has what in the way of geese? Ducks?

So here goes...my wish list. DH says no more than 10-12 to start with. OK, I'll live with that for now

Would prefer girls to start with and add the roos later when he isn't looking and I can add more coop. EE, Marans, Australorps, Rocks, RIR, Welsummers and sex links. A couple of each would be ideal, just to get us started, figure out which ones we really like and would like to expand on. Shooting for a colorful egg basket with a production that will meet our consumption needs. Then later smuggle a couple at a time in, "I dont know how those got there honey, they must have just wandered in:.....

I can bring a couple of desserts as well.

The white ones are right around 8 weeks old and the partridge ones are about 7 weeks.

Well as it looks right now I will have a pair of BS Orps breeding age, a few huge black Orps hatched 10/9/08 maybe some Barred Rocks hatched 11/18 a bunch of Coturnix chicks about a month old and a few Tennessee Red Bobwhite chicks also a month old..More to be added I'm sure..
