Greetings! I was looking to find an answer to a random chicken question amd found this site! I can tell I'll love it! We have just a few chickens right now. A amazing Thai game cock, a cochin banty, a R.I red, 3 cross chicks from previous 3, a black frizzle banty and a gold link red cross we hatched ourselves. I really love the frizzles!! We have raised chickens quite a few years, and we raise and butcher ourselves 50 meat birds a year. Like probably many of you, I could sit and watch my birds scratch and waddle around all day. They are so entertaining. Like chicks playing football with a june bug!
The question I had was- Would a cockerel act like a mama with another chick? THe frizzle I have is most definantly a hen, but the Gold link cross looks like a boy. He will cover the banty when it rains and she cuddles under it at night. Will boys do this????? I would love it if it is really a hen, not a rooster. Don't want to have to get rid of him:( Nice to "meet "you all and thanks for any advice!

from WI. I have no experience with roosters, can't have them in town:( I do remember a couple of posts about roosters that were very good with chicks though. You may want to see if one of the more experienced people responds or maybe post your question in the 'Chicken Behavior' or 'Flock Management' Section.
