Howdy Ya'll. Texan here needs bulk wood shavings cheap anybody have any suggestions?

I have some ideas. Craigslist free section would be one. Another would be a saw a mill. Pardon me I don't know Texas, if there are no big saw mills, try a place that makes custom furniture, it's waste to them and they will give it away. If none of that pans out a lot of places that sell beauty bark also have sawdust but they will charge a few bucks for it where as the other options are usually free.

Tree trimmer companies and some cities grind the brush and limbs at their landfill and sell it as bulk cheap mulch.

Ask a woodworker....my husband is a wood turner and we have a LOT of hardwood shavings.

I've gotten wood chips from tree trimmers to use in my garden. They are usually more like shreds of wood and not chips and not something I would want to use in the coop. There are better free options.

That's a great idea, And this is Texas. Always remember EVERYthing is bigger in Texas.

Be careful with public works' brush trimmings. They don't separate out the junk - like poison ivy. I learned that the HARD way!

Check with your local horse-boarding facilities, too. A lot of them use bulk sawdust for bedding so they might know a good source. They might even sell you a load.

I’m always paranoid and my fear from getting it from somewhere like a furniture making company something of that nature might have some kind of chemical in the wood. Many times rock quarries or sand quarries Will deliver them by the dump truck. A friend of mine does that but he splits the truckload with three people. Helps make it cheaper and a dump truck load is a whole whole lot
