Chain link for the run?

We got 4x4 welded wire and attached it with those little black plastic zip ties. Had some sagging problems in the middle due to leaves, branches, so we placed a 2x4 across the width of the run, in the middle....makes it easier to walk in there without ducking too.
Your coop and run for the silkies sounds really secure.

BTW....After making our coop and run "Ultra Fort Knox" for our silkies.....they all free range from sun up to sun down.

Anyway, looking forward to pics. I'll try to post mine too.

Chainlink makes a great run.

If you're using the kennel panels you need to make sure that any gaps at corners or gates are secured against predators (where the panels are curved, you know?) by adding boards or whatever.

And it is real smart to add a layer of something smaller-mesh on the bottom 2-3' to prevent reach-through incidents, such as chickens poking heads thru chainlink and either getting 'em stuck or getting 'em eaten off, or predators reaching in through chainlink to grab handfuls of sleeping hens or attacking roos. Hardwarecloth is the *most* secure thing for this purpose but IMO 1/2" poultry mesh is quite adequate too if you can find it, and even just 1/2" plastic garden mesh or regular 1" chickenwire will prevent the vast majority of reach-through.

Good luck, have fun,

Pat
