If I do this, my dad promises me that he will allow me the use of his storage shed that
borders his/and my property. My own larger coop was destroyed by falling trees if anyone remembers
that. This is just winter fun though to see what I can turn up.

My father has given me the recycling challenge. I must create a design for a small
coop for my three Splash OEGB. I must also make it look good. I am allowed anything
on my property or my dad's. I can only budget 20.00 outside of what I find. I've decided
that most of the 20.00 can go towards paint (mostly vinyl dye spray) and staples because
I've found most of what I need already.

Here is my base.

Yes, I found a man throwing this off his truck and took
the opportunity. It was an old broken dresser.

Since my dad required that I give him a rough idea of what I was going to do
I quickly drew up an idea. My drawings are horrible and quick but, it conveyed
the rough idea of what I was hoping to do.

We'll see if it stops raining long enough to really work on it. Let's hope it isn't
as crooked as my drawing.

Hope you turn the nightmare into a dream come true KFC!!

Oh, and with reference to your "horrible" drawings, at least you had a plan first unlike some of us!!!

Exactly. I stared at it forever like it was a t.v.!

No coop inspirations here....

This should be interesting.

I don't see where you'll put the disco ball, though. What's up with that? Chickens just wanna have fun!

Looks like a fun project! Always gotta keep your eyes peeled for stuff people are chucking out, as they say; One mans trash is anothers tresure. Today I rode past a skip bin outside a house doing reno's, on top was a stainless laundry tub. Needless to say, it's now a scraps trough for my girls!
I like the idea of beer can cladding, you've got me thinkin now.
Be sure to post photos

Hoping you meant sky light instead of solar panel...other wise you're WAYYYY over your budget of $20.00 . I envision solar panels in my future coops however...not green...just CHEAP ! Nothing against the greenies ! Looks like you found something useful though ! Dollar saved is a dollar earned ! Love to see the finished product....keep us updated !

Take care ,
Marisa

Check your local dump for paint - my dump has a recycling section - most of the stuff is very cheep - windows, doors, etc. But they also have a shed with paint, mostly full or almost full cans, that is totally free. If they don't have such a thing, maybe you could suggest it.
What I did was get as much of this as I could, plus a $5.00 5 gallon bucket of mistake paint from Home Depot. I used the free paint to mix into the $5 paint to recolor it. Plus, they had some real oil base enamel that I used for the interior, (even though it was pink).
And, I'm sure you have seen elsewhere here, you can often get free pallets lots of places, and use that wood.

Oh, and what are "pet bottles"

Looks like a fun project!

I wouldn't dip the legs, it may cause them to hold moisture in the wood rather than letting it air out, plus as it expands and contracts with the temps it'll spilt the dip coating. Seal with paint and keep the feet directly off the ground via flat rocks, bricks, patio stones etc..
