Challenging chicks

Ok I have a flock of chicks of varying age my lemon pyle brahma and my hedemora will often chest bump and challenge each other they are each 6 weeks old now. Sometimes my 8 week old silver ameraucana will put herself between them to stop their fight (kinda adorable). Wondering what may be causing this behaviour is it just hormonal or boredom?

It's just normal pecking order behavior. They'll chest bump, puff up their feathers, and even spar each other. As long as nobody is drawing blood it's really nothing to worry about.
