Didn't expect to be posting in this forum so soon
Got our chicks yesterday. Got home and the first one I picked up let out a big messy, semi-bloody stool all over me. It was the first time I had ever seen chick poo so I didn't get too riled up about it. Throughout the night we noticed she was definitely the most mellow of all of them. I have seen her eat and drink on occasion but she just doesn't have a lot of energy. I've seen her poo a couple times since and its very watery and there is no green color like the others. Today DH noticed that she doesn't open her eyes.
I did a bunch of reading here and thought it might be coccidiosis. Went and picked up some corid after work and I've gotten her to drink a little. I also put it in the water for the other chicks.
What throws me off is that she still peeps/plays a bit. Eyes always closed, but she does acknowledge the others and scamper with them, just not as much. She's very snuggly and is sleeping on my lap on a rice bag right now and occasionally perks up to make some chirps at me but they don't sound distressed. Did I diagnose correctly? Could it be something else? What can I do for her besides what I'm already doing?
Haven't even had them for 24 hours and I'm going to be heartbroken if we lose her :'(
