Ever since I stopped fermenting feed due to th e cold, a few of my chickens have started to produce these black droppings that smell like death. It is not the cecal (sp) stuff. Of the 10 birds, only 5-6 of them are doing this. The other ones only have the regular brown droppings.

What could be causing this and how can I stop it?

What have they been eating? There are a few things that, when chickens eat them, smell pretty "powerful". Cabbage and garlic are a couple. Tomatoes are another. As long as the poop is not runny like diarrhea, you probably have nothing to worry about, but you really need to photograph it and give us more information if we are to be of help.

Thanks for the poop chart. They are in the "normal" range.

I forgot about garlic! I started putting garlic powder in their food when they switched off the FF. Thanks for all the replies! :D
