Hi! I'm raising chicks for the first time and I think I may have gotten them the wrong feed. I have three Rhode Island Reds and two Barred Rocks and I am raising them to lay eggs. The feed I got for them is 22% protein- which I just realized may be for meat chickens. Is it too early to switch their food to less protein? Or will this not matter too much? Please advise! :) Thanks!
  2. 22% protein feed is just fine for chicks. No need to switch. 22% is actually ideal. Give it to them free choice 24/7 and they will do what comes natural.

    Wish ya the best.
  3. Congrats on your flock. It can be one of the most enjoyable things at your house.
