Hi fellow flock raisers,
I have my first flock. They are 14 weeks now and cute as ever. 4 hens. ( I am obsessed ) lol. They are currently eating Manna starter and grower feed.

I guess my question is I have read they should transition to layer feed at about 20 weeks? Do they just eat layer feed from there on out? Is the starter and grower feed harmful to them at that point?
And if you have recommendations I am always grateful.
Thanks!
Mandee

Starter and grower feed can be safely consumed by any chicken at any age. The only addition to it would be oyster shell once the pullets begin to lay.

In fact, many of us do not feed layer feed at all. Ever. Even if you don't have a mixed flock, chickens of all ages and both sexes and only some laying, hens can benefit from the extra protein in the grower feed, and all that's necessary is to provide the calcium source.
