Changing from a still air to a forced air, temperature question

After this batch of eggs is done hatching I am going to put a fan in my LG still air incubator. I've been looking at nicer incubators but I'm going to stick with this one for awhile longer. I've had two really good hatches in it (one chickens and one turkeys) but this current one isn't going so good. These were shipped eggs though so I'm chalking it up to that. Anyways, my question is regarding where to take my temperature reading. I know with the still air the temp should read about 101.5 at the TOP of the eggs, but with a forced air should the temp read 99.5 everywhere? I'm thinking that is the case, that the air temp should be the same all over with the air circulation but I just want to be sure.

I have an LG with a fan and I measure my temp just off of the bottom. My hatches are around 100%

In theory, in a forced air incubator, the temperature should be the same in every corner no matter where you put the thermometer. This is because the fan swirls the air around, which is completely different to the thermal layering you get in a still air bator where the air is more calm and you get cooler air at the bottom and warmer air at the top. So you, with a fan in your bator, the temperature should be 99.5 everywhere. I'm emphasising the 'should', cause even with a good bator and a good fan, it doesn't always work that way, and you do sometimes get cool spots and warm spots depending on how the air gets whooshed around. Even with a fan assisted bator, I like to have the bulb of my thermometer hanging at the level of about the middle to the top of the eggs.

Yes. 99.5 everywhere. I added a PC fan on a 5 or 6 volt power source. Air doesn't flow as perfectly as I'd like, but I like it better than still air. GL
