We have 8 hens that are not quite 28 weeks. One hen has been laying for several weeks and just recently a few more have started laying. I have one hen (not sure which one) that keeps dropping her eggs from the roost :( instead of laying in the nesting box like the others. How do I get her to change her habit of that? She has done it three times and twice the eggs have been broken. None of the other girls are doing this. I thought about putting fake eggs in the boxes to see if that would help, but I don't know if would make a difference.

Any help would be appreciated.

Just a suggestion, have you tried the fake egg method where you place a fake egg in the nest so they know where to lay?

I have not. I didn't know if that would make a difference. All of the other hens are laying in the boxes, just not that one.

X2 on try the fake eggs. But if she is laying eggs at night when she is on the roost, it is more of a timing problem than that she is not laying in the boxes on purpose... chickens won't get off the roost at night to lay eggs. It takes new layers awhile to get their egg laying system in gear, and sometimes their timing is off to start with until they really get the cycle going.
