Hi! I'm buying a house with some existing poultry houses and runs. The current owner kept show pheasants in them for many years. Is there anything I need to do to ensure they'll be safe for chickens and possibly turkeys? Do I need to scrub them out a certain way, leave them fallow for a while, or worry about any diseases or parasites?

    Thanks so much!

At the very least give it a really good cleaning and dust for mites (hide in wood). If they brought them to any shows this could have introduced some external parasites that they wouldn't know about right away. I don't know if there are diseases that can go from pheasants to chickens, so I hope someone with more knowledge can help you there.

I'd sweep it out well and spray it with a 10% bleach solution, then add new litter and call it good
