I am now ready to try and move my 4 jersey giants with my ladies. I got them early April and was wondering when they can start eating layer crumble.

One normally feeds layer to a chicken that is a layer.

There's no rush. At 19 weeks or so, of age, neither would it hurt.

The usual rule of thumb is to put them on layer feed around 18 weeks. If you got yours in April and they were day-old chicks then, they may still be a few weeks younger than is ideal.

Layer feed is high in calcium, which is needed for good egg shells. It is not recommended for younger (not ready to lay) chickens because too much calcium can cause bone deformities. I'd wait until they are a full four months old.
