It was first presented to the public in 1918, and was accepted to the SOP in 1921. It is the result of efforts made from 1908 to 1918 to obtain a fowl of vigorous and rustic temperament that could resist the climatic conditions of Canada white still being a good winter layer. The comb and wattles have been reduced to a minimum on this breed, which is intended to be part of its typical character. The Partridge variety was originated in Edmonton, AB, Canada.
