Hiya, and welcome to BYC! :frow

It sounds like you have your plans all set for a coop and run. Be sure to consider using 1/2" hardware cloth to cover openings in the coop and even for the run. Almost any varment can get through chicken wire, and hardware cloth prevents them. Most of us bury about 12-18" or make an "L" at the bottom bending the fence outward and bury that, then cover with pavers/rocks. That prevents diggers from getting in.

Yep, thanks, the whole thing will be encased in 1/2” hardware cloth, including the perimeter aprons. After everything I’ve read here, I wouldn’t dare do anything else! 😲;)

- and I’ll be asking for lots of feedback on the actual henhouse plans, which change every 20 minutes or so!

Welcome to BYC. You might consider using a strong guage wire like cattle panels and putting the hardware cloth over that. I say this because of the bears. I've had a dog chew through my 19ga hardware cloth in the past. He didn't do any harm to the chickens but now I check the pens and around the perimeter everyday for any damage or diggers.

Oy! A whole new thing to worry about. 😫 (Thanks for the idea, though.)

Hi! I like the sound of all your plans! One of my chicken coops is set up like that, and I like it because I don't have to bend over to clean it out. (You can see a picture of it in my About.)

It sounds like you have done a lot of research and I hope everything goes together for you smoothly! Keep us posted, we'd love to help with any questions or hear how it's all going!

Thanks for joining and welcome to BackYard Chickens!
