Charities. Do you donate?

It is said Americans tend on being generous with their money compare to most other nationalities. Do you believe this is true?
I donate only to local church right now. It's hard to find a trustworthy charity today.

Mostly because the kids have anything and everything they could possibly need and I want them to learn generosity and responsibility. And I donate blood every 56 days because they like my type LOL. We donate used items rather than send them to the landfill.
