Snakes haven't been issue here. What type of snake got into the coop?Ah. Maybe next year! I had a snake break in this morning and out of 4 6 week old pullets he ate 3. No cockerels, all pullets.
A speckled King Snake. Usually they only eat eggs. This time it ate a total of 4 chicks. When they were 5 weeks old I had a Blue Cochin Bantam rooster disappear. He was a chunk. Then yesterday it ate 1 of my 2 Blue Cochin Bantam pullets, my only Red Pyle OEGB pullet, and my only Millie Fleur pullet. All 6 weeks old. The Cochin Bantam was pretty big! I got in through another coop and found a hole to get in the chicks coop. I also had a Blue Cochin Bantam cockerel, 2 Millie Fleur cockerels, and a Golden Laced Sebright cockerel and it eats the hens. Grr!Snakes haven't been issue here. What type of snake got into the coop?
That's alot of birds it has eaten. Are you planning to do anything about the pesky snake?A speckled King Snake. Usually they only eat eggs. This time it ate a total of 4 chicks.
