. Well I woke up this morning to a nice sunny day with some wind to dry everything out!!
No more water is coming in the house and the chickens are all dried out, sort of.
Bad news is, Miss Duck is still gone

. Gemima ( the other duck ) doesn't seem to be phased by the disappearance of her sister at all.
Maybe they will call to each other. I had a good look around this morning and just can't figure it out.
She has either been snaffled somehow!
or she has escaped somewhere!

GAAH!! Also the dog bit one of my hens, now I have to look after a punctured comb. That's not to hard, she seems fine anyway.

Talking about fantasy got me to keep thinking about the lady I got my hatching (maybe) eggs from.... All of her birds are BEAUTIFUL, so NOT hatchery!

And it got me to thinking.......

Even though i did just get Black copper Marans from her........

Maybe I should have Welsummers (they lay better, some are as dark as Marans, and the spots are more common, and I love the spots)

and some lavender Muscovies for meat

and some Blue Salmon Faverolles Bantam sized, since the kids always like to have a bantam breed.

But get them all from breeders, so they are super pretty!

Then again, I have always wondered about getting Rose Combed Dorkings.......and the Welsummers just are not as pretty as the Marans. hummmmmmm

OK, I can live without the Dorkings, since those are really for meat, and I would have the Muscovies for the meat.

But is it really possible to be happy with only ONE breed of LF?

I could live with one bantam, and one duck.........

NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have HRIR, Delawares, Light Brahmas, GLW and Production Reds. Also Leghorns!!

Well some breeders do only have flocks of only one breed. I plan on getting one breed flocks later on in the future.
But I think I will find that hard.lol.
At the moment the most chickens I have of only 1 breed are my Lav Araucana's.

I'm not Luke but I guess what are you looking for in a bird?? Dual purpose?? Just eggs or just meat. I like the HRIR and the Delawares myself. Great meat birds and large to X-large eggs. Plus there awesome looking.

I can separate my ( pure bred ) favorites into sections. Egg Production - White Leghorn. Meat - Jersey Giants. Dual purpose - Sussex ( speckled, platinum ) Ornamental - Long tails eg: Phoenix, Yokohama, Samatra. Just for fun - Orpingtons ( Lav and Choc ) Wyandottes ( all laced ). Coloured eggs - Marans.

O.K this is only if I had a gun to my head and could only choose one breed from each section
