ok im gonna try to quit smoking in two days any advice lol
Silver, I loved smoking cigarettes, I know, yuk, yuk. But I can smell someone else's smoke, and will often walk right over there just to get a whiff.

I could pick one up in a split second, but, really don't want to go through this again. Ever.

On quitting, anything, I have to do alot of self talk.....
meaning I have to convince myself that I'm going to give it up and when I do, it will not be a blasted struggle, and one day I'll wake up and, poof, hadn't smoked in days.

Of course, there are the prayers for strength and determination too!! I can be a little stubborn on myself at times.

Also, tell someone.....I would, prior to and after quitting, say to myself..."today I will not smoke." "Just today..." then just say that day to day.

Then I would think of ways I would reward myself.......shopping for me! When I want to buy a pack and boy they are really expensive now, instead, I'll buy a little belt or some kind of what not, or something for the birds, family, etc. Once I quit, I'll start saving those few dollars.....

But for the first 3 days when I know I'M ready to quit, I keep things simple.

Limit driving in a vehicle, favorite place to smoke, no smoking in bathtub, no smoking inside, or outside on porches, no smoking around chickens, and on and on....till I run out of places I'll allow myself....alot of psyching myself out. Then, I try to sleep as much as possible. (3 day weekend, naps, etc,) Figure, if I'm not awake, I'm not smoking, helps with the habit part and the nicotein headache withdrawal. (Benadryl usually knocks me out, makes me feel lousy later, but hey, quitting smoking gonna make you feel lousy anyway.)

Eat salads. Takes a while, cause you gotta chew alot. Feeds that oral fixation thingy and helps to avoid overeating just to have something to do with your hands. (Of course, now that you will be the secretary here as well, we'll make sure to keep your fingers busy! heeheee

) Take walks, helps blow off CO2 and cigarette junk off the bottom of your lungs. Drink lots of water for the same reason, flush toxins, rehydrate.

I told husband that I'm not gonna kiss him until I have smoke free breath, he's OK with that one too. Had gotten to the point of kisses on the cheeks or forehead, bummer..... Then once I got there, I laid one on him.......etc. I've quit 3 times, first and second times there were 10 years in between..... I know, but illness, divorce, etc. I caved in. I just quit again about 2 years ago.

You can do this, and I'm sure you will find alot of folks like me who will be praying and supporting you right through.
