Chat N Chicknfun Thread

I wish we could keep the number of roos down some how? LOL I know I have more than my share. DH and I were talking about that this morning. We don't know what to do with them all yet. But they are now crowing at 4 am till 8 am and sometimes all day! He'll get tired of getting woke up and do something with them... lol
I suggested taking them to the auction?

I'm not aware of auctions in our area.....I wonder how I could find out????

I just went on google and typed in poultry auctions in my area of AL and it pulled up two of them.
OK, next question? Who goes to auctions to buy 9 to 10 month old roos? Sounds stupid I guess.
But, I just have this unreal fear of those who use them for cock fighting, and if they are just gonna butcher them, well, I might as well.

How many individual chicken folks go to auction looking for a good roo? I just no experience with it yet. I could just see me, I'd make folks fill out an application for my birds to see if they qualify.....heeeheeee

Really though, not kidding.....?

I have no idea how you would know what they are going to do with them. My DL and DS went to one and bought several birds cuz she saw some pretty blue ones. I told my DH that I might try to get some at auction so I won't have to brood any next year. Others on here and other chicken sites post that they are needing roosters. So it's just what every you feel is best for you.

Thanks Chicka, that makes me feel a little better. I know when I started out I wanted pullet size birds since I didn't have a clue or time to raise chickies. OK, that makes sense and feel better about the concept....thanks and hope there was no offense?
