My love, you need a long, long, long hot soak in the tub asap. Add some salt if you got extra, doesn't matter what kind of salt. Bummer day in sooo many ways for you today....hang in there, just to show 'em you can!Super bummed tonight.
Today was my second warm day of the year.....so lots of work to do, and you think I would be happy....but...
FIRST
I smushed one of my 6week old chicks. Broke his neck in the coop door.
TOTALLY MY FAULT, I saw him there....I was just thinking slowly.....had so much work to do....
I am trying to make myself feel better because 1. Even though he didn't LOOK dead immediately....I kinda think it was like when you cut off their head....so I am hoping he didn't suffer. And 2. It was at least an 'extra' male, so I might have ended up culling him anyway. At least I didn't get a pullet. *sigh*
SECOND
even though I DID test out my incubator before setting the eggs.... It is acting all sorts of screwy. I think it has starting breaking or something. And I am really worried that I already killed all of those lovely lovely eggs. But, if they aren't dead yet, I am not sure that I am going to be able to keep them alive with the incubator being to horrid.
And
1. I live in a small town, so nope, I can't run out and get another one, need to mail order
2. Spouse says, no mail order, if it is busted, let us just rebuild it (hear me scream at that STUPID suggestion)
3. Even if I did mail order a new incubator, I feel SO bad to go back to the lady I got these eggs from and say "I killed all of the eggs, could I have more to try again?" I guess I shouldn't care about having to say that....but I DO
4. I KNOW it is stupid...and I have incubated before (using this same incubator) and so I know that no hatch is ever 100% (OK, I guess some people get that, but I never have), but to loose ALL of these super lovely eggs breaks my heart!!
THIRD
one of my sons was a royal snot today, for most of the day, and two of the other ones had moments
