Chat room for non religious poultry keepers! :D

Ooo okay, my standards is 2011 🤣 for my needs thats perfectly fine.

And that make sense. I wanna do shows but I miss the show community. Being disabled poultry is one thing I could show with the help of family, goats not so much. Applying for SSI until we see where things go with poultry, my dad's insurance and a offer I had from a small animal clinic.

Yeah, mine was a gift; my mom and I were at the Ohio National a couple years back and I had mentioned wanting a standard before then, so she insisted on buying one while we were there. 🥰 All they had was the current edition, so that's what I ended up with. I just wanted a quick reference for my Cochins, and it's come in handy a few times for questions around the forums and other things I was interested in knowing, so definitely no regrets in getting it!

Best of luck with your SSI application and everything else! 🍀 I have next to no goat experience, but they definitely seem like a lot more to handle than chickens. 🤭

Our weather can be quite nasty, & extreme.

Ours is usually pretty stable, beyond the whole traditional Midwestern 'having all four seasons in one day' events during the spring and fall, but this past year has been totally unhinged. We had almost 100°F weather in June last year, then an unusually cool summer after that, then this weirdly mild winter with only a couple spikes down into the negatives and then back up above freezing most of the rest of the time. 😵‍💫 So bizarre!

I was blessed that my grandparents got me APA (though the quality for the price oof) and both hard cover and soft cover of APA.

Yeah, I loved my lamanchas but sadly I just can't physically handle them anymore. Showed them in 4H and had hopes of becoming a judge but since I can't legally drive that ain't gonna happen t.t

Weather has been pretty crazy, the past couple years, especially with tornado warnings, & watches during the summer.

As long as storm chasers aren't in your driveway it's pretty safe :th  I know the feeling of tornado watches, not much can be done where I live just hope damage ain't terrible.

Several years ago, an E-F0 tornado came over the house, threw dirt, & branches everywhere, & it killed a blue Jay. My grandpa was crazy enough to stay outside grilling burgers while we took cover in the basement.

I live near the town that got hit three times in a row. We originally had storm chasers in over driveway over it since they thought it was gonna hit us thrice.

Lemme tell ya it pretty terrifying to see lighting strike outside your window then on the tv screen :th

No, storm chasers here yet, hopefully we never see them unless it's away from our house.
At least you were lucky, to not get hit.

Yeah, it can be quite scary, especially when it strikes close by.

Yeah, we were beyond grateful, specially as the other path it took repeatedly had less housing etc. The hospital was hit but in the long run we got a better one in return.

Not gonna lie, I am terrified of strong storms and tornadoes. Any time we get storms I am an anxious mess. Even the wind yesterday had me feeling pretty anxious. Very grateful to live somewhere where we don't see tornadoes often at all, and in a woods that kind of deflects most of the wind away from us when we do get strong storms. I do still have to worry about tree falls hitting the house or my coops and pens, though. 😬
