I’m making hard boiled eggs
What method/how long do you cook them?

Hubby likes them as a snack, but hates it when they don't peel well. The last two times I've made them, he insisted on peeling them as soon as they were cool enough to handle. I don't like to do that, but as long as he eats them before they go bad, I don't care. I left 2 in the shell, and they peeled just fine for me the next day.

I do them in an Instant Pot. 5 minutes, high pressure. Wait 5 minutes, release any remaining pressure, and put them in cold water. Works for fresh eggs.

That sounds like a great method! I don’t have an Instant Pot so I just cooked them on the stove. Put them in, boiled the water, then turned it off and put lid on for 15 or maybe 17 mins. Article I read said 10-12 but I like them very cooked LOL then drained and ran cold water over them but they were still hot so put them back in the pot and filled with cold water for another 10-15 mins. The one I ate peeled decent but left the rest in the shells for the next day. I read to do an ice bath but I don’t have ice lol

I don't have ice either. I don't make ice cubes because we never use them.

Ice? That's what they put in your drink at a restaurant to water it down.
True lol I do like ice but I don’t have an ice maker. Just a few cube trays and that won’t make enough for an ice bath plus I only had one in the freezer lol

We have a 40(+?) year old fridge. No ice maker in the door. I will NEVER buy a fridge with "water and ice in the door." Total deal breaker for me. It's another thing to maintain, to break, and I wouldn't use it.

We have a reverse osmosis filter at the kitchen sink, and it makes the best tasting water I've ever had. Our well water is potable, but tastes icky, and we have a softener, so there's the salt in it, which I don't like.

As for ice... too much bother and I don't like my drinks cold anyway. I even leave my (increasingly rare) bottles of pop on the counter, so that they're room temperature.

Oh wow!!! All of that’s impressive lol
