Anyone have a trick to get chickens to NOT lay on the ground? I recently acquired 9 hens from Jake's work buddy who got too many and was overwhelmed and a handful of his hens won't lay in the nesting boxes they lay under them and of course I can barely reach the eggs

You could try fake eggs in the nests maybe? Idk. Maybe the nests are too high or too light for them?

I put fake ones back in a few even tho all my girls are laying just to entice them lol but no dice I'm gonna lower the one box and see of that makes a difference but I didn't make the boxes real super high to begin with

And does anyone know what she is? I have 2 one is molting bad but they have bad toupees on top I was goven 0 info on any of these hens. But i think ive figured out the other 7

If you figure out a trick, let me know. My crazy birds lay all over the place.
