Oh, how exciting! Fingers crossed for many more babies! :fl

Wish I could say I was having as much luck in my hatching endeavors so far this year, but as of right now I've set 16 eggs, had only 3 develop, and one of those three looks to be a quitter. I have some people waiting on hatching eggs from my birds but I don't want to give them unfertilized eggs, so I'm more than a little anxious about it. 😅

Oh no thats not good! Out of 12 Serama eggs I bought from eBay, 9 were fertile and 7 hatched, so I had pretty good luck with that. I also had good luck with my lavender Ameraucanas most of their eggs hatched. The only bad luck I had was my Wheaten Marans. I'm pretty sure I set 6 eggs, but I only got one chick. Maybe my Marans rooster is not very fertile?

Wow, congrats! That's especially good on those shipped eggs!

Yeah, I'm wondering the same about my guy in the pen I've been setting eggs from. I didn't have much luck with fertility from him last year, either, although I didn't set very many eggs to test it out compared to this year so I was hoping it was a fluke or something. But I'm afraid if he's not going to be able to father chicks consistently that I'm going to have to swap him out for another male, a real shame because he's a sentimental favorite for me and I was really hoping to keep his blood in my lines. :hmm

Me too. I just got my Ameraucanas and Marans as chicks last spring. This is my first time using the roosters for breeding. The Ameraucana rooster has done well but not the Marans. I really like my Marans rooster im going to keep him because im not as focused on breeding Marans right now. Seramas and Ameraucanas are my main focus currently. Hopefully I will get another Serama rooster from the shipped eggs because my Serama rooster doesn't do his job very much anymore.

Here's hoping a good Serama cockerel is in the mix for you! Do you have any pictures of your Seramas? I've never owned them, but they've been on my 'some day' list for literal years. I especially love the silkied ones (goodness, how many of y'all saw that one coming? 🤭 ), but I find tiny chickens adorable regardless of feathering style, and I especially love how colorful Seramas can be. :love

I currently have 6 adult Seramas and the 6 chicks that hatched. 2 of the chicks look frizzled so im exited about that! 😆
And no I dont have pictures (I dont currently have a phone)

So much for being a mobile phone!
Now is not the time for me to say, when I was a kid, our phone was hardwired into the house! It never went anywhere past as far as the cord could reach!

Ok, I said it anyway.

Talking about roosters... I'm not sure my guy is "getting the job done" at all with the girls. And if he is, he's shooting blanks. Sigh.
