@ladycat what are Ermine Marans? If you don't mind me asking I've just never heard of those before, lol... Are they a project?

From what I've read it leaves the eggs more vulnerable after so when you handle them you need to wear gloves but my eggs are in the same boat as yours and I was thinking of giving it a try. But I don't want to waste my time and incubator space for nothing. Back to the books

I have never washed hatching eggs, but I have misted with Oxine and had good results.

With misting did you spray the eggs before and let them dry or did you put them in the incubator and mist them in there? Sorry I'm full of questions

One of the very oldest varieties of Marans but extremely rare in this country.

I've had mixed results washing eggs and incubating. Id rather set a slightly dirty egg...

Some of my quail eggs I set were dirty.
