Chat Thread for the New Crazy 24 hour Auction

Recently someon was talking about shipping hatching eggs and how supposedly there was a special USPS service that was supposed to guarantee gentler handling of packages. Does anyone on here know anything about it?
I just got some BLRW and Ameraucana eggs and every single air cell was detached I think. :( the packaging was exceptional so it wasn't the sellers fault. Ladycat is shipping me some BCM eggs on Monday and I Really want those eggs to arrive safely. I don't doubt her packaging; I just wondered if there was anything else that could be done/bought to help ensure safe/careful transit.

I had 2 boxes crushed this week. Someone was talking about using live chick boxes to ship eggs in but they do cost and take time to get.

I would pay for live chick boxes...in a heartbeat if it would save my eggs!!! I have paid to have them overnighted and they are still coming in with sides all smashed up and air cells detatched...I just wanna cry!

I had goose eggs shipped with the service called "Special Handling". I think it is an additional $9.30 fee for up to 10 lbs and they guarantee the package will be hand sorted rather than by a machine. Prior to this package I had several sets of goose eggs shipped with regular handling and most of the air cells were badly detached or blown. Some of the air cells from the special handling package were a bit loose, but I have babies growing and consider it a success! This is a pic of the package when I received it:

400

They ship it this way to ensure it can't be machine sorted and nothing can be stacked on top. It also can't be flipped upside down!

Did you guys try the " Fragile Honey" thing on the box yet?

I read about it on a thread here last year and so far it is working good for me. Boxes seem to arrive in much better condition than if I just write "fragile" on the box.

Apparently they don't want sticky honey leaking out all over their machines so they are very careful with those boxes.
