Thanks to all of this rain, we have birds drowning. My best looking BR pullet was found face down in the mud. Probably drowned being mated. Placing pallets out now to prevent further disasters.

I have a ton of dirty, muddy eggs from the ducks. I may clean them off and stack them in the incubator... I may clean them up and eat them. Who knows.

Ladycat, how's the weather up there? Are you healing up all right from this rain?

Pens are still muddy. 100% chance of rain tomorrow and chances of rain every day after that for who knows how long.

I almost lost my BEST Ermine Marans hen. The beautiful one with nearly perfect markings and type. She was bogged down in the mud yesterday with only half her body above the surface. I dug her out and put her in a rabbit cage in the barn with food and water. She's horribly caked in mud, but she's standing up and eating and drinking.

Glad she's doing better! It's upsetting what this weather is doing to everyone.

Oh no - how horrible.

How many have you lost?

Good rescue.
Is there any way you can get all the birds into the barn to keep them sheltered from the weather until the coops are repaired?

It may not be ideal conditions but at least they would be dry and not at risk of being caught in the mud.
