Yep, Stall dry is what I've been using for quite awhile now. It works good.

Just please do not feed the chickens Stall Dry. My local mill will order DE for me, food grade 50 lbs bags only cost me between 20 and 30 dollars. We couldn't remember the exact price. We are in Michigan. Sometimes if you call around to your local mills or breweries you can find someone who will order it for you. All you can do is ask.

I ended up buying it through eBay as well, 50# worth (for $50 total), because nobody knew what the heck I was talking about! So although I have way more than I need, in the end, I wish I just would have bought it over the internet first.

I spent so much time driving here, and driving there, calling and them say "oh yeah we have that" only to get there and it NOT be DE.

I give it to my outside cat and use it my coop. I love it!

stall dry is a combination clay and DE, its great for what it is made for, but i agree to be careful- here is where i get the regular DE from, since there is nowhere local to get it-

An organic produce/gardening store in Augusta was able to order the 50lb bag for me for just under $30, including shipping and tax. You could also ask at health food stores.

Call a feed mill! Refer to it as fossil shell flour, they also know it as an anti-caking agent. I get it from the mill at our feedyard. 25lbs for $17.50 or 50lbs for $29.50.

You might check gardening stores as well. Gardeners use it as an organic way of controlling pests.
Just make sure it's food grade.

Thank you for this info. Is it still good? I can't get stall dry out here. I even called the supplier and they just don't ship it here.

Are there other alternatives? When I asked at the local Farm store the boy looked at me with a puzzled look and just shook his head no. Best I could get was "cat litter"! Like I want my chickens eating that??????

I found it in Washington . . . we could drive over and get some? I know the dog breeder down the street would want some too . . . we could take our big diesel and gas wouldn't be so bad . . . just a thought I really want some stall dry I've used it before in Ca and it is the best.
p.s. they have DE at D& B and Jackies here in Middleton.
