Cheap Dwarf Goats in GA?

I go against the grain. I like horns and hate disbudding. Though I only have one with horns right now. Horns make them easy to catch and hold on to. ;-)

Yea I love the horns on my Boers. :) I don't like collars so they are easy to catch. And I just like the look of them.

But for pets most buyers want it done, and those tiny breeds have some crazy horns. I just started disbudding mine this year, only planning to do the Nigerian herd. I hated the disbudding process, but love the end result.

@Mylied: LOL! :gig

I expect that's because you've never had to go out every single hour of every single day and "save" a goat that has stuck its head through the fence and is trapped. Or had a goat that was trapped by its horns killed by a dog ripping its face to shreds. Or had to do stitches on a goat opened up by another goat's horns. Or nearly had your eye taken out by a goat's horn. Or had the oddest marks on the backs of your legs from your goat's horns... :D

Well, I have. Holy cow does it all ever suck. I have to milk twice a day no matter what. My life has been SO much more peaceful once I started disbudding! I hate disbudding with a passion but I have to admit - it makes life so much easier for both me AND the goats. I resisted at first, but now that I've had disbudded goats I will never go back. Just my experience, yours may differ! :)
My goats can't stick their heads through the fence. I've not been bruised by horns. They've not hurt each other with horns but a polled goat did butt a very pregnant goat hard enough to kill one of her unborn twins. I've had 3 goats killed at once by dogs getting into the fence. The forth goat has three legs from the incident. Only one had horns and I imagine she was the only one who put up a fight. They are now in better pens. So yeah, you live and learn from your mistakes. I know the vast majority like no horns. I like horns.

Thought I would come back to this thread to thank Mylied for posting the Craigslist ad...

Look familiar? :p I couldn't say no to this blue eyed naturally polled sweet boy, so we just had to make a road trip to pick this guy up haha. This is Purge my new beautiful little Nigerian Buckling. :love

Their goats and other animals look great! Had some beautiful geese, ducks, chickens, and turkeys. They had a very small herd of goats but they all looked very healthy, so if you are still looking I would really reccomend the other kids. :)

Congrats! Goats are so sweet and addicting. I forget, do you just have the one goat? Are you using him for breeding?

Yea I have a herd of my retired Market Show Boers that are now breeding stock.

And I just recently added a separate herd of the Nigerians a few months ago. Wanted to try something new, but I just love Boers too much to get rid of them haha. I had bought a few already bred Nigerian does, but just hadn't found me a good little Nigerian buck yet.

I have had him a few weeks now and I am very happy with him. Such a sweetheart! My Boer Bucks all get attitudes, but this guy is a doll.
