Cheap Easy Quarantine for New Birds

I know a new bird needs to be quarantined for about a month, but I dont want to build an entire new coop/run/tractor for a month, considering how unlikely it is that I will use it again.

so what cheap ways can you think of / have you used to house quarantined birds.

Cardboard box in the garage?? Old rabbit hutch?

Wire dog crates are on sale right now at Walmart.com. I think they are only $26. all sizes if I remember. I couldn't believe the price!

Also thinking about covering from rain.. (Winter in Aus)

set the wire crate on a wooden pallet and fasten a sheet of plywood over it at an angle against the house to shed the rain. Tarp three sides, flip the tray over so it doesn't hold an inch of water in the floor.

Look for free / cheap dog house on freecycle, craig's list, etc. Also remember that you might need to use it later for an injured bird or a broody, etc. (I'd Oxene it first)

That is what I think they meant but it is spelled oxine
