cheap pen...YAY

It would make an ideal brood cage for smallish birds, chicks etc.
Nice that it was free-ish, too.

Although, my first thought when I saw it was "battery cage"....
(Shame on me... bad Davaroo!)

Yes, shame on you.

But we will get him if he does that, won't we?

Just kidding, of course. Great use of freebies! Need to go scrounge for shipping crates for a decent brooder. And I should have a broody pen or two at the ready. And I might need a jail for a feisty roo. And a hen could get sick....

Hey, yeah, a hospital ward! I like the apartment effect.

Gorgeous!!! Wish you lived closer so I could buy one from you! I'm going to be making a shelving unit out of shelves (not sure what kind yet) and dog run fencing that we already own. I need to put mesh of some type over the sides to keep everybody from flying away and something over the front of the shelves to keep the units separate and I'll be good to go for our Coturnix (Coturnixes? Coturni?). How much space is there in height for each shelf? I was guessing 18" or 2" would be enough but I haven't actually met the quail in person yet.

This one I think its a lil over 2ft in height for the shelves.. The brooder and the bottom one are a lil smaller.... The next one we build each shelf should be about 3 ft or a lil higher..

I also put some of my 2 month old chicks in the second shelf...hmmmmm now what Can I put in the bottom...LOL
