Cheap solar ideas

DS's science fair project was a solar (doghouse?) heater...

Dozen aluminum cans -spraypainted black-
Wooden Frame
Vent -hot air out-
CPU Fan -other end to blow cold air through cans-

Well anywho, you can find tons of plans online... we found one and then tweaked it down to 12 cans.

Worked REALLY well surprisingly.

Wait, I just read that again... I thought it was a major no no to put spray paint on styro... am I remembering that all wrong, or does this plan not spray the styro, but the plexi?

Hmmm... maybe that warning was for packing peanuts... darnit that's just gonna drive me nuts.

I found a solar panel charger and a 12 volt battery that is used to power game finder cameras at Dick's Sporting Goods each for just under $30. I use mine to power my Pullet-Shut automatic door. I don't think you could get a better value by trying to re-invent the wheel so to speak. By the time you invest in materials, make a few mistakes, start over, spend hours figuring it out, just go buy something. I've had to learn this the hard way over the years.
