I had a lot of mortality from Ideal during summer from TX to AZ. From Metzer in CA I had minimal shipping losses-- I only lost a one in the first couple days, and that was b/c shipping delayed my small shipment. I had a little failure to thrive issues (some ducklings didnt grow like the others and eventually died) but Metzer made it good even though my losses clung to the mortal coil for a couple of weeks before perishing.
Both hatcheries send out decent to great quality ducks in small orders AND will sex them. Always add on the grogel if you have the option.
If you don't want to ship, maybe try a feed store or a local small scale breeder like others have suggested.
