Hello, A few years ago I hatched my own silkies and ordered a few ducklings as well, but after a few shipments of ducklings that arrived dead or died within the hour, I became discouraged. However, this summer I am going to be at a camp all summer, and will have enough time to devote to ducklings, so I thought that I would try ordering again. I was thinking about getting a few blue swedish pullets, and maybe a welsh harlequin or two. I would prefer to pick up the ducklings from a hatchery as day olds ( so that they would imprint on me), but the nearest hatchery is 4 and a half hours away from me. I wouldn't have a problem ordering ducklings again, except my local postal service is extremely slow, and the shipments of poultry that I've gotten in the past have ALWAYS gotten to me on the fourth day, with most of it's cargo dead (except those darn packing peanut chicks, they always seem to live 
) I was wondering if there was a hatchery that I could get about 4 or 5 ducklings from and have it shipped overnight without having to pay over $60? If you know of any hatcheries close to Eastern Kentucky, Let me know! I'm right on the West Virginia and Ohio line. I simply cannot deal with dead ducklings again, and standard shipping seems to be the only option with many of the hatcheries. Thanks!
