Cheaper isn't always better

Some people might not like to be cheap, but have no choice. I had no choice when I bought these two birds. NO ONE has these to offer around here, and I would have gladly paid $25 per bird from a breeder, and $25 per bird is cheap to me for a bird I want.
I bought the Red Speckled Sussex cockerel for $5 on EGGBID, and my friend Larry gave me his Red Speckled Sussex pullet for FREE, that he bought for $2.50 at TSC. Net cost for this rare variety of chicken flock is $7.50 plus driving to pick them up.
And when buying an adult you always get what you pay for.

Schlecht Hatchery has probably the lowest price that I have seen. You can get an assortment of chicks for less than $1 per chick before shipping and I think that they are in Iowa.

Townline was very reasonable. I purchased 100 chicks and did not lose ANY. Also, were very easy to deal with. Privett is only a few hours from me, and refused to sell chicks to me since it would cut into the business of the local feed stores. So, I just went to Townline, and actually got a better deal.

I'd go with Ideal or Privett. I like Ideal's selection, but like Privett's location (im in az so the biddies don't travel that far--it's where the local feedstore gets theirs from).

Red Top Hatchery....i Ordered 25 St Run Heavy Breeds And Got 29 Beautiful Chicks Very Healthy And Came With A Thirty Day Mortality Guarantee And It Was Cod And Was Only 35 Dollars! It Is An Assortment And It Is Great....i Have Pics If You Like To See!

I ordered mine from Ideal Poultry. They ship 25 chicks in a box want so if you don't want any males make sure you let them no or they will send you 25 chicks total the females you ordered and however many males you would need to add up to 25. I ended up with 13 males and my twelve barred rock chicks, and unfortunately one is a male. If you just want the chicks so you have chickens, you might want to get some sort of sex-link breed so its impossible for them to guess the gender wrong.
