Cheapest hatchery?

Hoovers or Ideal are usually the cheapest. You want to be careful of Ideal though. I ordered some mallards from them. Very unhappy.

You will find that there are quite a few that sell chicks within pennies of each other. Choosing by price alone is definitely not the way to go in my opinion. You might save two dollars and have tons of trouble with the birds.

It's best to choose one close by, so there is less shipping stress on the chicks and one that has reasonable customer service in the event of problems.

I've had a very good experience with Welp hatchery, but there are plenty others who know what they're doing.

Ideal is a great hatchery with excellent customer service!

In the long run it matters so little how much you pay for chicks it is ridiculous. When you think about the fact that you might save a few cents here or there, and unless you are buying hundreds of birds what you spend on the chicks themselves doesnt amount to a trip to McDonald's. Find chicks close to you or better yet find a good breeder of a variety that you appreciate and go from there. You will spend a small fortune on feed waterers etc etc etc.

If there is 50 cents difference from hatchery to hatchery I would be surprised unless you are into small breeders.

You willl enjoy your chickens so much more from better bred stock.

I have to go with what my husband says, and he says the cheapest.
Theres not many chickens on my local craigslist.
I'm not looking for a certain breed of chicken, just not bantams.

i use welp, they have good prices and their prices include shipping which most others, that added later. I found them to be the cheapest and have good customer service.

Look for hatchery specials. They fill the order with what ever is left over after a hatch. You can get specials that are all pullets and no bantams. You don't get to choose the breed, but they are often really inexpensive that way.
