Cheapest Healthiest Way to feed chicken and ducks.

Hi there, Im a newbie and wanted to find places in my area to get feed. I was looking at the list that was posted and noticed a mistake.
The Feed Store
2001 E 4th St, Long Beach, CA 90814

IS NOT A FEED STORE!
Can be misleading because of the name. But I can tell you, since I have been there many times to shop, that this store sells things like linen, clothing, books, jewelry, etc. Its all donated goods, that gets resold. Its a non profit, and the proceeds to to a food bank, hence the name The Feed Store! So whoever put this on the list, should take it off!
Thank you!

food scraps (make sure their appropriate for ducks and chickens) and if you free range them they wont be needing food because of the endless supply of bugs and worms they will find.

Yes, find a tractor supply, feed supplier or southern states and get 2 50lb bags at a time. Under the feed and water subjects there is a thread near top now that is discussing best feeds. Consumer Reports lists Petco as the highest priced supplier. Get a big metal trash bin for the feed. I put silicone caulk inside and outside all seams and around the handle and line it with a big garbage bag to keep feed clean, dry and fresh. Good luck

Well, part of the problem is they may be wasting a lot of it. See if you can come up with a feeder that restricts access to the food in such a way that they have to stick their heads inside to eat, and none of the food really "spills out" -- a lot of people make them from PVC pipe. That helps a lot.
I made my ducks those... they still spill food EVERYWHERE ...
